The pottery will be closed from Christmas until January 20. Do not hesitate to call and leave a message or even find us here working and responding. Jeff and Sally
CALISTOGA POTTERY WOULD LIKE TO SEND OUR HEARTFELT THANKS to all the men and women, professional and volunteer, who have fought the Kincade Fire for a week now. We at the pottery will be fine, our product does not go bad and we will welcome you back to our rescued town at your convenience. We intend to have our traditional sale in late November-early December, and we are watching our fellow shopkeepers beginning to reopen. I found Tony at Ca’Toga assessing the enormous mounds of windblown leaves and Al Dobbs at Calistoga Country Antiques shaking his head this very morning. We are a strong, grateful and very fortunate community.
We had some idea of the tactical skill, dedication and organizational genius of CalFire before this ordeal. Watching them in action (having returned to our home after the wind changed and the smoke began to clear) was humbling and very moving. We had fire companies from as far away as San Diego stationed, it seemed, on every corner. The huge red water-dropping 747 kept sailing through the bright blue October sky, heading into the dense bank of smoke over the ridge. Our admiration is boundless. Sally and Jeff Manfredi, October 31, 2019 Happy Hallowe’en!
UPDATE: November 18, 2019 We are looking at another PSPS (shutdown of power) this Wednesday. You will find that our phone and internet are down but we are here, working and open.
Jeff and Sally Manfredi have been making pottery together for almost 40 years in the Napa Valley town of Calistoga, California. The studio is on the left side of Highway 29 (Foothill Boulevard) as you enter Calistoga from the south, seven miles north of St. Helena (map at visiting the pottery). Sharing an affinity for food and cooking as well as a love of pottery-making the potters have specialized in useful shapes in a variety of food-safe glazes. Their pottery is lead-free, microwave and dishwasher safe. You will find their pieces in use at local wineries, restaurants, inns and homes (see links in “Used locally by”).
Visitors are welcome and they will usually find us at work and delighted to take a break to reflect on the events of the day. Please call first if you would like to bring children to decorate our pots or would like us to make a hand- or footprint plate for a baby. We are open Monday-Saturday from 9 am-5 pm, Sunday by appointment. Please call us at 707 942 0216 to make any special arrangements. Closed for all major holidays.
Shipping is available. Parking is limited so please consider walking here from downtown, six blocks if you start at the far side of town! We happily accommodate people with dogs and children.
